Slow Response on SPWeb

Many factors can contribute to slow response; however, the top three culprits are listed below.

McAfee Anti-Virus on the web server. SilverPlume Web uses the Get Private Profile string, McAfee scans every request causing slower response times. Turn McAfee off and if performance improves, you will know that this is the problem.

Insufficient server -We recommend using a dual processor with a minimum of 256 RAM.

Old SPWeb software - To verify that you are running the current SPWeb software, check the Current Software chart.

Tip: To see how fast SPServ32.dll is performing, add the following line to the [Siteini] section of the Site.ini:

ReportElapsedTime=True

The elapsed time will be reported at the bottom of each library page. This is the amount of time it took the server to process the request, not how long the server took to get it back to the user.
