    Network Installation
Before You Begin: The installation process will create a working program directory called SPAPPS on your network hard drive. Program files will be stored in this directory. (Example: F:\SPAPPS)

The SilverPlume CD contains the library files, so you must keep the CD in your network CD-ROM drive while using SilverPlume. Option: You may choose to free up the CD-ROM drive by copying the contents of the CD to your hard drive. For more information, read copying the SilverPlume CD. If you decide to copy the CD, you must do so before continuing.

    Setup
Once you have hard mapped all workstations to both the CD ROM drive (or if downloading, the hard drive that contains the CD image) and the network hard drive where the program files are going to be stored. You can follow the subsequent steps at each workstation. Do not use Network Neighborhood to run the installation because UNC drive mappings are not appropriate for running the program.

    1. Close all programs and disable virus scanning.
    2. Log onto the workstation using an ID which has administrator/supervisor privileges.
    3. Place the SilverPlume start-up floppy disk in the A:\ drive (this will only be necessary on the first workstation install).

    Monthly Updates
Updating your SilverPlume library can be as easy as placing the most current CD in your Network or PC CD-ROM drive. NT servers merely require the new CD to be placed in the drive. Novell/Netware servers must have the CD mounted per the operating system instructions.

If you have copied the CD to your local or network hard drive follow these steps for the monthly update.

    1. Select the drive where you previously copied the CD (Example F:\SPDATA ).
    2. Delete the entire contents of the SPDATA directory (all users must have the software shut down until the update process is complete).
    3. Copy the entire contents of the latest SilverPlume CD to the SPDATA directory.
    * It is recommended that the SPDATA folder not be updated during high usage and high load times on the server.*

    Standalone Installation
